David Alvarado Director / Cinematographer

David Alvarado is a Chicano documentary director, producer, and cinematographer who is passionate about science, technology, and human rights. His recent film, We Are As Gods (2022), follows Stewart Brand’s attempt to bring back the woolly mammoth. He has directed other notable films such as Bill Nye: Science Guy (2017), Blood Sugar Rising (2020), and The Immortalists (2014), which was nominated for the BFI Grierson award. David is a graduate of Stanford University’s MFA in Documentary Filmmaking and co-founder of Structure Films, an independent production company that focuses on stories about science and technology.
