The Great War
The Great War is a three-part series for PBS’s acclaimed history series, American Experience, which explores the United States’ experience in the First World War. Led by the soaring rhetoric of Woodrow Wilson’s vision of a new world order, the great conflict would fundamentally change the nature of American society, undermining the progressive movement, giving birth to the national security state, reordering the place of women and African-Americans in the culture, and changing the government’s role in almost every aspect of the American economy. The repercussions of this moment define us to this day.
